Tipper trucks and gardening equipment worth more than £100,000 have been stolen from a depot in the Borders.

At around 6.10am on Wednesday, June 19, a member of staff arrived at the premises on Lower Mansfield Road in Hawick to discover it had been broken into.

From enquiries carried out so far, it is believed that two tipper trucks were stolen along with some machinery and high-value gardening equipment.

The cost of the theft and damage is estimated to be more than £100,000.

Detective constable Callum Wood said: “Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and we are appealing for the local community to pass on any information which could help our investigation.

“We would particularly urge anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage of the area to please check in case they have captured anything which could be of significance.
