Two girls and a boy, aged 14, 15 and 16, have been charged after a fire at a Tesco in North Berwick.

Three schoolchildren have been charged after a fire at a supermarket in North Berwick.

Fire crews were called to a blaze at a Tesco on Tantallon Road at around 10.56pm on Thursday.

The fire was successfully extinguished and crews left the scene at 11.58pm.

No one was injured as a result of the blaze.

Two girls and a boy, aged 14, 15 and 16, have been charged in connection with the fire raising incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Three youths aged 14, 15 and 16 have been charged in connection with a culpable and reckless fire raising incident which happened at a supermarket on Tantallon Road, North Berwick, on Thursday, April 13, 2023.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received reports of a fire at Tantallon Road in North Berwick at around 10.56pm.

“One appliance attended the incident along with police and we left the scene at 11:58pm.”

A spokesperson for Tesco said: “We have been assisting police following an incident at our North Berwick Superstore on Thursday night.”
