Three arrested after armed police officers surround block of flats

Armed officers were called to the incident in Edinburgh following reports of a fire and housebreakings.

Three men have been arrested after armed police were seen surrounding a block of flats in Edinburgh.

Police were called at around 8.30am on Thursday to reports of housebreakings and a fire at a block of flats on Inchmickery Court in the Muirhouse area. The Scottish Fire and Rescue service were also in attendance. 

A 23-year-old man and two men who are aged 32 have been arrested while enquiries remain ongoing.

The fire was subsequently extinguished and is currently being treated as unexplained.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.30am on Thursday, May 19, officers attended after receiving a report of a fire and housebreakings at a block of flats on Inchmickery Court in the Muirhouse area of Edinburgh.

“One man aged 23 and two men aged 32 have been arrested in connection with the housebreaking and enquiries remain ongoing.”

“The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and is currently being treated as unexplained.”
