Fife Council has granted permission for a global telecommunications company to install an 18 metre pole with overhead lines along Dunfermline’s Aberdour Road.

CK Hutchison Networks (UK) Ltd is free to develop the new masts along Aberdour Road’s grass verge to the rear of the telecoms base station on Menteith Drive.

Site maps indicate the mast will be positioned near the Masterton Road/Aberdour Road roundabout on the west side of Pitcorthie.

“Prior approval is granted and formal approval is not required,” Fife Council said.

The telecommunications giant calls itself “a leading global operator of mobile telecommunications and data services.”

The telecommunications and internet service provider Three UK is a subsidiary of CK Hutchison’s, and serves approximately 13.1 million customers across the country.

Globally, the company claims to serve over 176 million customers.

Locally, the works can now proceed for the development of an 18 metre pole which will support six antennas, two equipment cabinets and other necessary equipment.

The land is owned by the council’s highways department. Works will be carried out in due course.
