Teen charged after armed police search for 'youth with firearm' 

Armed officers launched a search of the School Brae area of Kirkcaldy and recovered a BB gun on Tuesday afternoon.

A teenager has been charged following reports that a male youth was spotted with a “firearm” in Fife.

Armed police officers were called to the School Brae area of Kirkcaldy at around 3.35pm on Tuesday after receiving reports of a youth in possession of a “firearm”.

A BB gun was recovered from the scene and a 15-year-old male was charged in connection with the incident.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

The teen is due to be reported to the Youth Justice Management Unit.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.35pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, we received a report of a person in possession of a firearm in the School Brae area of Kirkcaldy.

“Officers attended and a BB gun was recovered. There was no threat to the wider public and no one was injured.

“A 15-year-old male youth was charged in connection with the incident. He will be reported to the Youth Justice Management Unit in due course.”
