A teenager is fighting for his life after he was airlifted to hospital following a crash near the village of Gordon in the Scottish Borders.

The incident occurred on the A6105 west of Gordon at around 1.20pm on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old man was riding a black Kawasaki motorbike when it was involved in the collision with a Skoda Yeti car being driven by a 53-year-old woman.

Ambulance crews attended the scene and the teen was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where staff have described his condition as critical.

The woman and her male passenger did not require hospital treatment.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Dominic Doyle, from the Divisional Road Policing Unit, said: “I would appeal for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone driving on the road, shortly before the incident, to contact us.

“I am also keen to hear from any drivers with dash-cam footage that may help assist our enquiries to please get in touch.

“Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 1708 of August 8.”
