A teenager has died in suspected drug related circumstances after falling unwell at a house in Fife.

Emergency services were called to a property on Kirkland’s Avenue in Ballingry at around 11.55am on Sunday.

A 16-year-old boy was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment but was pronounced dead a short time later.

It’s understood that detectives are investigating if drugs played a part in his death as enquiries remain ongoing.

Police also confirmed that a number of other youths were taken to hospital as a “precaution”.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware around 11.55am on Sunday, October 29 of a 16-year-old male youth having taken unwell at a property on Kirkland Avenue in Ballingry.

“He was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment but was pronounced dead a short time later.

“His death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
