St James Quarter evacuated after police respond to 'concern for person'

Officers were in attendance and Police Scotland there was no threat to the wider public.

St James Quarter in Edinburgh was evacuated on Thursday following concern for a person.

Police were called to the shopping mall at around 2.10pm on Wednesday.

Officers were in attendance and Police Scotland there was no threat to the wider public.

Members of the public were asked to avoid the area.

St James Quarter, situated in the east end of Edinburgh’s New Town, is a major retail and residential development.

It is also home to the distinctive W Hotel.

At around 3.30pm, police confirmed the mall had reopened to the public.
