Drivers travelling on the A720 have faced major disruption after two incidents during rush hour.
The major trunk road was restricted eastbound between Baberton and Dreghorn from 7.15am due to a collision.
Disruption continued for over an hour with drivers warned of delays of up to an hour and a half with traffic trailing back from the M8 at Livingston.
All lanes were reopened around 9am with Traffic Scotland describing the road as “extremely busy”.
Just half an hour later, a broken down vehicle was reported on the westbound carriageway causing restrictions.
Sharing on social media, Traffic Scotland said: “Traffic remains heavy following the earlier collision on the Eastbound carriageway.”
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
