Police are treating an attack on a man in Edinburgh as attempted murder.
The 55-year-old was found badly hurt on Ravenscroft Street, following a serious assault in the early hours of Saturday.
He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he remains in a stable condition.
Officers say their investigation into the incident, which was reported shortly before 2am, is ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 1.45am on Saturday, September 12, police received reports of a serious assault on Ravenscroft Street in Edinburgh.
“Officers attended and a 55-year-old man was found to have suffered serious injuries, he was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he remains in a stable condition.
“Enquiries into the incident, which is being treated as attempted murder, are ongoing.”
