Two women have been charged with culpable homicide in connection with Bill Ireland's death at Rejects in Kirkcaldy.

A 62-year-old security guard who died at a department store in Fife has been named by police.

Bill Ireland was pronounced dead at Rejects, on St Clair Street in Kirkcaldy, just after noon on Friday.

Teresa Gordon, 57, and Nicola Gordon, 35, appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday in connection with the man’s death.

They have been charged with culpable homicide and theft by shoplifting, while Teresa faces an additional charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Both women made no plea during their court appearance on Monday. They were released on bail and their cases were committed for further examination.

A third woman involved in the incident was dealt with by way of non-court action and the case against her is closed.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 12.20pm on Friday, January 6, 2023, police were called to shop premises on St Clair Street, Kirkcaldy. A 62-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The 62-year-old man can now be named as Bill Ireland.

“Two women, aged 35 and 57 years, have been arrested and charged in connection with the death. They appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday, 9 January.

“A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
