An investigation has been launched after cars were deliberately set on fire on the same street on three separate occasions.

The vehicles were targeted while parked on Melville Close in Glenrothes on June 29 and July 13 and 19.

The fires are being treated as wilful by officers with “extensive” investigations ongoing to find those responsible.

The area has been plagued by fires in recent weeks with residents forced to keep windows and doors closed after a blaze at row of garages on Hill View on the night of July 8.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire and no one was injured.

A 14-year-old boy has since been charged in connection.

Additional patrols will be in place in the area amid the recent spate of incidents.

A spokesperson said: “Anyone with any information or concerns can approach these officers.

“Anyone with information or relative CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to contact police. Please call 101, quoting incident number 0285 of July 19.”
