A vulnerable ‘non-verbal’ teenager who went missing on Sunday evening has been traced safe and well, Police Scotland have confirmed.

Danny Brunton, from Port Seton in East Lothian, had last been seen on CCTV on Monday, May 29.

On Wednesday the 17-year-old’s mother issued a plea to the public to contact police if his whereabouts were known.

Police confirmed on Thursday morning that he had been traced and thanked the public for their efforts in responding to appeals.

In an update, a spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police Scotland can confirm that Danny Brunton, 17, reported missing from Port Seton in East Lothian, has been traced safe and well.

“Thank you to everyone who shared and responded to our appeals.”
