Concern grows for missing woman who disappeared over a week ago

Police have said they are concerned for the welfare of a missing woman who disappeared more than a week ago from the Scottish Borders.

Michelle Pettie has not been seen since Saturday, September 3 and was officially reported to police on September 5.

The 45-year-old, from the Melrose area, is known to frequent the Galashiels area and was reported to have been seen there on Friday, September 9.

She is described as white, 5ft 3in in height, of slight build and has dyed red and auburn hair. She is believed to have been wearing a black jacket and jeans.

Inspector David Robertson from Police Scotland, said: “Michelle is known to frequent the Galashiels area of the Scottish Borders and was reported to have been seen there on Friday, September 9. We’ve also had a report that she was in Melrose on Tuesday, September 6.

“We are keen to establish Michelle’s whereabouts as soon as possible as concern is growing for her welfare.

“In addition, we would ask Michelle to get in touch with either family, friends, or police if she sees this and let us know she is safe and well.

“Any information which can assist with this inquiry would be greatly appreciated and should be reported to Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 1749 of Monday, September 5.”
