A pensioner has died following a fatal road crash in the Scottish Borders.

Emergency services raced to the scene on the B6397 near Kelso on Friday morning.

A 72-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene following a collison.

She had been driving a grey Kia Venga when her vehicle collided with a red Mercedes GLE 300.

The incident occurred around 8.55am and the road remains closed in both directions while investigations are carried out at the scene.

Polcie are now appealing for information from witnesses and anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the incident.

Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick from the Road Policing Unit based at Livingston said: “I am appealing to anyone who was on the B6397 this morning and witnessed the incident, or noticed either vehicle on the road beforehand, to please get in touch.

“In particular I would urge any motorists with dash-cams to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact the Road Policing Unit based at Livingston through 101, quoting incident number 0732 of Friday, November 11.”
