Mountain biker rescued by helicopter after being 'seriously injured'

A multi-agency response was dispatched to a popular mountain biking trail on Sunday morning.

A mountain biker had to be airlifted off a popular trail in the Scottish Borders after suffering a serious injury.

Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue team were called out to Glentress around 10am on Sunday after reports of a person being injured.

The volunteer team were able to get the casualty from the trails by stretcher before they were airlifted by a Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance.

The call out was the 36th this year for the Tweed Valley team with 15 personnel sent out as well as Scottish Ambulance Service paramedics and police officers.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 10.14am on Sunday, June 30 to attend an incident in Glentree Forest, Peebles.

“We dispatched one ambulance and one air ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. One patient was transported to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”
