A motorcyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries after crashing into a road barrier in the Scottish Borders.

The incident, involving a green Kawasaki, happened on the A68 at Carter Bar, near Jedburgh, at around 12.20pm on Thursday.

Emergency services attended and the 45-year-old man was airlifted to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

Police closed the road for around five and a half hours for collision investigation works.

Sergeant Iain McIntyre said: “A man has sustained serious injuries as a result of this crash and we are appealing to anyone who has any information surrounding the incident.

“The road would have been busy with other road users and we would ask if you witnessed the crash or were in the area at the time that you get in touch with officers.”

Sergeant McIntyre would also like to hear from anyone with relevant dashcam footage that could assist with the investigation.

If you have any information, call 101.
