A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving his motorbike and two others in Fife.

The trio were heading West along the A985 towards Kincardine Bridge in the early hours of Sunday morning when they were involved in the incident.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene shortly after 5.50am near the Gallows Loan junction with the road.

A 37-year-old man was transferred to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, while a 27-year-old was later arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.

Officers shut down the strip of road for more than five hours during an initial probe.

An investigation into the crash is now under way, but a Police Scotland spokesperson said enquiries remained at an early stage.

Sergeant Ross Drummond the force’s road policing unit added: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to come get in touch.

“We would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the road around that time.”

He added: “Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident 0981 of July 10.”
