A man, woman and child were taken to hospital after a one-car crash closed the M8 motorway in both directions on Sunday afternoon.
The collision on the eastbound carriageway at around 1pm between Junctions 2 and 3 near Edinburgh Airport left a vehicle on the central reservation.
One man was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said, while a woman and a child were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Emergency services closed the road in both directions until the car was recovered and eastbound and westbound lanes were fully reopened at around 4pm.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said : “Around 1.05pm on Sunday, May 22, 2022, police were called to the M8 between Junctions 2 and 3, following a report of a one-vehicle crash.
“One man was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. One woman and one child were also taken to hospital with minor injuries. The road was reopened around 4pm.”
The road was shut between Claylands Interchange and Dechmont Interchange causing large queues of traffic to build up with drivers experiencing delays of up to 50 minutes eastbound and 30 minutes westbound.
