A man has been left seriously injured after he was reportedly stabbed in an early morning attack on an Edinburgh street.
Police say the 22-year-old was assaulted on the capital’s Moredun Road just before 6am on Friday.
Emergency services attended and he was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where medical staff describe his condition as “serious”.
Investigating officers in the capital have since made an arrest.
The 61-year-old man has also been charged in connection with the incident.
A police cordon was in place through to Friday night with several nearby paths also closed off by investigators who say enquires are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a 22-year-old man with injuries as a the result of an assault at Moredun Park Road in Edinburgh around 5.50am on Friday, 17 June.
“He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment, where he is currently in a serious condition.
“A 61-year-old man has been charged, and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
