A man was left in hospital after being robbed of alcohol by a group of youths in Peebles.

The man, aged 42, and a woman, aged 54, were threatened by a group of youths on a pedestrian bridge on the Cuddyside, towards March Street, at around 10.05pm on Friday.

The man was then assaulted and a quantity of alcohol was stolen.

He attended Borders General Hospital and received treatment to a number of injuries.

Officers confirmed that the woman was uninjured.

A police spokesperson said: “Enquiries into this incident are ongoing and anyone who believes they may be able to help can call 101, quoting reference 3114 of July 8, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
