A man has been left in hospital after a dirt bike crash amid a police chase in Edinburgh.

Officers launched a pursuit of an off-road bike after it failed to stop for officers on Calder Road at Wester Hailes Road, at around 5.20pm on Wednesday.

The bike was subsequently involved in a crash.

A 20-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. His current condition is unknown.

Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.20pm on Wednesday, April 17, an off-road bike was involved in a crash after failing to stop for police officers on Calder Road at Wester Hailes Road, Edinburgh.

“A 20-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh following the crash.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
