Man dies following crash which closed road for hours during rush hour

A man has died following a one-vehicle crash during rush hour traffic in Fife.

Officers were alerted to the collision involving a silver Volkswagen Golf on Wednesday around 6pm.

The incident happened on the B981 near to the junction at Clocklunie Road, Dunfermline.

Police confirmed that the driver, a 52-year-old male, was taken to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he died a short time later.

The man’s family have been informed.

The road was closed for around four hours while police carried out investigations.

Officers are urging anyone with information regarding the crash to come forward, and said investigations were ongoing.

Sergeant Lee Walkingshaw said: “We are providing support to the family of the man who died as our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of this crash.

“This occurred during daylight hours on a busy road, and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have dash-cam footage that could help our investigation, to please come forward as soon as possible.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3103 of Wednesday, June 19, 2024.”
