A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident on a train.

British Transport Police confirmed a 46-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder, assault and possession of an offensive weapon after an incident on a train bound for Larbert station.

Emergency services responded to the scene at around 7.30pm on Friday evening.

The man will be remanded in custody to appear at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Monday, February 19.

Police say a man in his 20s remains in a serious condition in hospital.

A second man in his 20s has been released from hospital.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A British Transport Police statement read: “A 46-year-old man has now been charged with attempted murder, assault, and possession of an offensive weapon, following an incident on board a train heading to Larbert railway station on just after 7.30pm on 16 February.

“He will be remanded in custody until his appearance at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Monday 19 February.

“A man in his 20s remains in a serious condition in hospital. A second man in his 20s has been released from hospital.

“A report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.”
