iStockA man has been arrested and charged after a teenage girl was raped in Princes Street Gardens.
Police received reports of a serious sexual assault on a 16-year-old schoolgirl in Edinburgh at around 10pm on Saturday, September 16.
Officers said they had taken a 25-year-old man into custody in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear in court on Monday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the serious sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl, which occurred at Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh around 10pm on Saturday, September 16.
“He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 18 September.”
