A man and a woman have been charged after a fire tore through a block of flats in Fife.

Seven appliances were sent to Lochgelly just after 7pm on Monday after flames and smoke were seen billowing from the roof of the building on Francis Street.

There have been no reported casualties.

Police Scotland confirmed that a man, aged 33, and a woman, aged 30, have been charged in connection with the blaze.

The pair are due to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 33-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman have been arrested and charged in connection with a fire in Francis Street, Lochgelly, Fife, which occurred on Monday, October 23, 2023.

“They are due to appear before Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.”
