Man and woman arrested in connection with blaze at block of flats

A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with a blaze at a block of flats in Fife.

Seven fire engines were sent to Lochgelly just after 7pm on Monday after flames and smoke were seen billowing from the roof of a block of flats on Francis Street.

There were no reported casualties.

Police Scotland confirmed that a man, aged 33, and a woman, aged 30, have been arrested in connection with the blaze.

Enquiries remain ongoing and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said two height appliances remain at the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “Two people have been arrested in connection with a fire in Francis Street, Lochgelly in Fife on Monday, October 23.

“One man, aged 33 and one woman, aged 30, were arrested by officers today. Enquiries are ongoing.”
