Man, 21, dies after motorcycle crashes with lorry

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene while the lorry driver was left uninjured.

A man has died following a collision between a motorcycle and a lorry in East Lothian.

The crash happened on Wednesday at around 7.30am on the B1345 between Dirleton and Drem and involved a red Scania tanker and a green Kawasaki ZX 900E1.

The Scottish Ambulance Service dispatched an ambulance and paramedic response unit to the incident near Fenton Barns.

The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tanker was uninjured.

The road was closed to allow crash investigators to conduct enquiries but was later reopened.

Sergeant Barry Sommerville said: “Our enquiries are continuing into the circumstances of this collision in which a man sadly died, and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.”
