A lorry has overturned blocking a major road after striking a railway bridge in Edinburgh.

The HGV hit the structure over Cameron Toll at around 7.30am on Tuesday, closing the road between Peffermill Road and Old Dalkeith Road.

Police said nobody was injured in the incident.

Network Rail dispatched a bridge examiner to the scene who completed an inspection and confirmed the structure was undamaged at around 8.30am.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received report of a lorry having struck a railway bridge and overturned at Cameron Toll, Edinburgh, around 7.30am on Tuesday, November 16, 2021.

“No-one is injured and the road is closed between Peffermill Road and Old Dalkeith Road.”
