Japanese retailer Uniqlo announces opening date for first Scottish store

The global brand has confirmed its new store on Edinburgh's Princes Street will open on April 25.

Global Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo has announced the opening date of its first ever Scottish store.

The retailer, which produces clothing and accessories for men, women and children, has confirmed that the store will open up on Edinburgh’s Princes Street on Thursday, April 25.

To celebrate the opening of the store, Uniqlo is offering the first 100 customers through the door a mystery goody bag – and the opportunity for customers who scan their app to win a trip to Tokyo.

The Japanese retailers products, including the brand’s sell-out £14.90 bags and it’s LifeWear products, often go viral in the UK.

The store, which marks Uniqlo’s first entrance into Scotland, will have a sales floor of approximately 1,430 sq metres, spread across two levels.

The store produces clothing and accessories for men, women and children.

Marking the launch, the company collaborated with Edinburgh natives to model its clothing, including singer songwriter Nina Nesbitt, to represent the city’s “vibrant spirit”.

Alessandro Dudech, chief operating officer at Uniqlo UK, said: “At Uniqlo, we are deeply committed to supporting and enriching the communities where we operate.

“The opening of our new store in Edinburgh represents an exciting opportunity to forge lasting connections with local residents, businesses and organisations.

“Edinburgh is a city of great cultural and historical heritage, and we are excited to partner with a few of the many people who help to make the city so vibrant.

“Together, we will show how LifeWear brings people together, transcending differences in everyday lives. We invite the people of Edinburgh to join us in celebrating the opening of our new store and to be part of this exciting milestone with us.”
