Hunt for women who stole money from pensioner in shopping centre

Detectives are on the hunt for three women who stole money from a pensioner in Perth.

Officers were alerted when a 83-year-old woman was robbed of a quantity of cash within St John’s Shopping Centre, King Edward Street, between 3.45pm and 4.15pm on December 22.

Officers are now looking to trace three women who interacted with the woman shortly after she withdrew cash.

The first woman is described as being in her late 50s, with a stocky build and around 5ft. tall in height and was wearing dark, bulky clothing and a hat.

A second suspect is in her 30s, around 5ft. in height, with a stocky build and long, curly, brown hair.

The third woman is also in her 30s, with a stocky build and around 5ft inches in height.

Officers have been reviewing CCTV footage but the three women have still to be identified.

Constable Neil Munro said: “I would ask members of the public to think back and consider if they recognise the descriptions of the women who we believe targeted the elderly lady. If anyone has any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2285 of December 22 2022. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
