Hospital grounds cordoned off after man's body found

A man’s body has been found in the grounds of a hospital in Fife.

Police have cordoned off an area outside Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy after the discovery at around 10.25am on Friday.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing, officers said.

NHS Fife said it was working with Police Scotland and that patient appointments were unaffected by the incident.

A spokesperson for NHS Fife said: “We are aware of an ongoing incident in the grounds of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.”

“We are working with Police Scotland and patients with appointments should attend as planned.”

Police Scotland said a report would be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 10.25am on Friday, September 29, 2023, we were called to a report of the body of a man being found in the grounds of Victoria Hospital, Hayfield Road, Kirkcaldy.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”
