Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg has appeared in court facing charges of domestic abuse and stalking.

The 31-year-old is accused of engaging in a course of behaviour which was abusive to his ex-partner.

He denied the charges at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, including pleading not guilty to an accusation of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Hogg’s bail was continued and is set to appear at court again on July 15 ahead of his trial due to start on July 30.

Hogg was arrested at a property in Hawick at about 4.40pm on Sunday, February 25.

Hogg, who retired from rugby last year prior to the start of the Rugby World Cup, earned 100 caps for Scotland and played for the British and Irish Lions twice during his 13-year career.
