Firefighters tackle blaze above Indian restaurant in city centre

The fire service confirmed that the blaze is ongoing and four appliances are in attendance.

Firefighters are battling a blaze which broke out in Dunfermline city centre and has ripped through the roof of a property.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called shortly before 6pm on Friday, April 21 to the fire on Canmore Street.

Smoke was seen billowing from a property above Khushi’s Indian restaurant in the city, and the fire is currently ongoing.

Images show flames which have ripped through the roof of the building as firefighters work to extinguish the blaze.

SFRS confirmed that four appliances are in attendance, including specialist appliances.

Sections of road on Maygate, St Margaret Street, Canmore Street and Guildhall Street are closed.

It is not known if there have been any evacuations as a result of the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.10 pm on Friday, April 21 2023, police were alerted by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service that they were in attendance at a fire in Canmore Street, Dunfermline.

“Officers are assisting SFRS colleagues with traffic management at the location.”
