Over 20 firefighters have battled a large-scale blaze at a recycling plant in Falkirk.

Emergency services rushed to Avondale Road in Polmont at 7.40pm on Tuesday evening where they found a fire involving a large number of mattresses.

Six fire engines were sent to battle the blaze at Levenseat Waste and Recycling Centre.

No injuries were reported.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.40pm on Tuesday to reports of a fire within a recycling centre in Polmont.

“Operations Control mobilised six appliances to the town’s Avondale Road, where firefighters were met by a fire involving a large quantity of mattresses.

“Crews extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.

“There were no casualties.”
