Police were called to a busy train after a fight broke out following a rugby match in Edinburgh.

A service travelling from Edinburgh Waverley to Glasgow was disrupted at Haymarket on Saturday, August 26, after an altercation between two men onboard following Scotland’s defeat to Georgia at Murrayfield Stadium.

Both had their details taken and police are continuing to carry out enquiries into the incident.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Edinburgh Haymarket station at 9.43pm on August 26 following reports of a fight between two men. 

“Both men were spoken to and their details taken to allow offices to conduct further enquiries and establish the circumstances of what happened.

“Any witnesses who haven’t already spoken to police can contact BTP by texting 61016 quoting reference 560 of 26/08.”
