The family of a dad killed in a collision between a truck and a lorry in the Borders has paid tribute to him.

Colin Elliot, from Cumnock, was pronounced dead following the collision on the A1 near Eyemouth shortly after 3.15am on Thursday, January 19.

Officers shut down the road for almost 12 hours while an investigation into the incident took place.

His family, through a Police Scotland statement, said: “We are all deeply saddened by the passing of Colin Elliot.

“Colin was a much loved husband, father, step-father, son and brother.

“He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him and had the pleasure of being in his company.”

Constable Paul Aitchison, from the Lothian and Borders Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Colin’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Our investigation into the collision is ongoing. I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information, who has not yet spoken to police, to contact us.

“Anyone with information should contact officers through 101, quoting incident number 0282 of January 19, 2023.”
