'Extreme concern' for missing woman after car found at beach

Police are urging anyone who may have seen Alison Campbell near the beach to come forward.

‘Extreme concern’ for missing Edinburgh woman as car found at Cramond beach Police Scotland

The family of a woman missing from Edinburgh are growing ‘extremely concerned’ for her wellbeing.

Alison Campbell, 50, was reported missing after being last seen leaving a property in the city’s Murrayfield Avenue at around 3.10am on Tuesday, February 6.

She drove off in her red Toyota Aygo which has now been traced by police in the Cramond beach area.

A search is under way in the area.

Ms Campbell is described as 5ft 3in, of very slim build, with straight, shoulder length brown hair.

She was wearing a navy blue puffer jacket, a bright pink knitted scarf and black leather ankle boots.

She is normally seen wearing a gold ring with a black onyx stone on her right hand.

Police are urging those who may have seen the woman near the beach to come forward with the Coastguard joining the search.

Inspector Dougal Begg said: “Alison’s family are extremely concerned about her wellbeing and we are asking members of the public to keep a look out and report any sightings to police.

“Officers and the Coastguard are carrying out searches in the Cramond beach area and would urge anyone who has been there today to consider whether they may have seen a woman matching Alison’s description.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0535 of Tuesday, February 6, 2024.”
