Former Scotland captain Stuart Hogg has been charged with domestic abuse and stalking.

The 31-year-old was arrested at a property in Hawick at about 4.40pm on Sunday, February 25.

He has been accused of “engaging in a course of conduct causing fear and alarm”, “engaging in a course of behaviour which was abusive of a partner or ex-partner” and a third charge of “failing to comply with undertaking”.

Hogg, who retired from rugby last year prior to the start of the Rugby World Cup, will appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

After his arrest, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.40pm on Sunday, February 25, police were called to an address in Hawick.

“A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged. He was released on an undertaking to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

During a 13-year playing career, Hogg earned 100 caps for Scotland and played for the British and Irish Lions twice.
