Train passengers have been hit with rush hour cancellations and delays after a ‘fault’ was identified.

ScotRail confirmed that services to and from Edinburgh Waverley were subject to delays and cancellations after a signalling fault was reported.

Affecting platforms 18 and 19, passengers were advised services may be revised or delayed.

ScotRail say disruption is expected to last until around 9am as three services on the Perth line were cancelled.

The 7.34am journey from Edinburgh Waverley due in Perth at 9:07am was cancelled as was the 08:35am service due at 10:11am.

The Perth to Edinburgh service leaving at 10:14 due for just before midday was also cancelled.

Services from Edinburgh to Aberdeen and Inverness also face delays or alterations, say ScotRail.

Passengers are being advised to consult the ScotRail app or customer information screens at the station.
