CCTV images released ten months on from Princes Street racist attack

Officers are investigating after a man was subjected to a tirade of racist abuse before being assaulted.

Police investigating a racist attack in Edinburgh have released CCTV images of two men they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

A 24-year-old man received hospital treatment following the attack on Princes Street on December 22 last year.

The victim alleged he was assaulted on the famed shopping thoroughfare at around midnight after being subjected to a tirade of verbal abuse.

Police probed the attack at the time but have now released stills from a nearby security camera as part of the investigation.

The first man is described as being of mixed race, in his early 20s, around 5ft 11in in height and of slim build with a dark moustache and goatee.

He was wearing a dark woollen hat, a black puffer jacket and dark trousers at the time of the attack.

The second man is said to be white, also in his early 20s, about 5ft 9in in height and of slim build with short light brown hair.

He was wearing a navy jumper and grey trousers, police said.
