Bus fire forces driver and passengers to flee burning vehicle

Passengers were forced to flee a bus after the vehicle burst into flames in Edinburgh.

The blaze happened shortly before 11am on Sunday morning on the city’s Gorgie Road.

Fire crews were called to the scene and the driver and passengers were forced to evacuate the vehicle.

Police officers cordoned off the road that leads on to with Robertson Avenue while firefighters tackled the blaze.

Two appliances were used to extinguish the flames and shortly afterwards the road was reopened to traffic.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said fortunately, nobody was injured during the incident.

A spokesperson confirmed: “The fire has now been extinguished and the road has reopened.”
