Edinburgh Airport: Jet2 announces 'huge expansion' with new routes to Malta, Rome, Chambery and Prague

Jet2 has announced four new holiday routes set to take flight from Edinburgh Airport next year.

The airline also announced extra summer and winter capacity, as well as an additional aircraft which will come into operation by summer 2024.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said the expansion will see the company operate its “biggest summer ever”.

From March next year, Scots will be able to travel to Rome from Edinburgh with the introduction of new Monday and Friday flights.

Jet2 will also run new Wednesday services to Malta from May.

As well as increasing summer services, the flight operators have responded to demand for winter holidays and will run weekly Saturday services to Chambery between February and April 2024.

Jet2 will also run flights to Prague twice a week from October next year until March 2025.

The company has also added thousands of extra seats for summer next year to more than ten of their most popular destinations across the Canary Islands, mainland Spain, Turkey, Cyprus, Greece, Croatia and Italy.

Kate Sherry, chief commercial officer (Aero) at Edinburgh Airport said: “It’s always good news when we expand choice for our passengers, so having more destinations to jet to with Jet2.com next summer will allow people to already start thinking about that special holiday.

“We know there’s a strong market in Edinburgh and the addition of an extra based aircraft for summer 2024 is a real show of commitment from Jet2.com in Scotland’s capital and to delivering seamless travel and more opportunities to explore.”

The expansion means that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will now operate up to 96 weekly flights during peak periods to 32 destinations from Edinburgh Airport.

With nearly one million seats now on sale from Edinburgh Airport in summer 2024, the expansion represents a capacity increase of more than 20% compared to summer 2023.
