A CCTV appeal has been made after a man was attacked and left with a serious facial injury in Edinburgh.

A 37-year-old man was the victim of a serious assault in the city centre, around 2.50am on Thursday, February 20.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he was treated for a serious facial injury.

Police are keen to speak to another man, pictured, who they believe may be able to assist their enquiries into the incident.

He is described as white, between the age of 18 and 25, of slim build and has short light brown hair.

The man was wearing a dark floral-patterned, short-sleeved shirt and dark trousers.

Detective sergeant Berry said: “The attack left the victim with a serious facial injury which required hospital treatment.

“I would urge anyone with information relating to the man in the CCTV images to contact police as soon as possible.”

If you have any information that you believe could help police contact them on 101.
