A car had to be towed after “becoming stuck” on pedestrian-only steps near Edinburgh Castle.
Pictures taken from the scene on Tuesday evening show a red car stuck on Castle Wynd North at Grassmarket, just metres away from the esplanade.
Governor of Edinburgh Castle, Alastair Bruce, shared the images commenting that it reminded him of a scene from The Italian Job film in which Mini Coopers chase each other through the streets of Turin.
Sharing the images on X, Mr Bruce said: “Oh dear. Outside Edinburgh Castle just now.

“Reminds me of Italian Job car chase gone wrong.”
Police confirmed they were made aware of a “car becoming stuck” but no attendance was required.
They confirmed that the car was successfully recovered and no one was injured.
