Body recovered from sea amid search for missing woman

A body has been recovered from the sea in search of a missing woman from Edinburgh.

Alison Campbell, 50, was last seen leaving a property in the city’s Murrayfield Avenue at around 3.10am on Tuesday, February 6.

Police were able to trace her car, a red Toyota Aygo, to the Cramond beach area and a search was underway.

A body was recovered from the sea at Gullane in East Lothian at around 11am on Wednesday.

Formal identification has been carried out and confirmed the body was the missing woman.

Police Scotland say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
