Blazing bin lorry forced to empty rubbish outside police station 

Emergency services were called to a street in Kirkcaldy after a bin lorry went on fire.

A bin lorry was forced to empty its rubbish load outside a police station after it went on fire in Kirkcaldy.

Emergency services were called to St Brycedale Road, at around 9am on Wednesday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) deployed two appliances to the scene, and the fire was successfully extinguished.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

Pictures from the scene show a large pile of rubbish lying in the middle of the road.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.06am on Wednesday, August 3 to reports of a bin lorry on fire on St Brycedale Road, Kirkcaldy.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene.

“Crews extinguished the fire and ensured the area safe before leaving.

“There were no reported casualties.”
