Armed officers attended a property on Newhaven Place, Edinburgh, and it was confirmed there was no firearm involved.

Armed police attended a street in Edinburgh after receiving reports that a man with a firearm entered a property.

Officers were called to a property on Newhaven Place at around 5.55pm on Friday.

Upon arrival, it was confirmed there was no firearm involved and police stood down.

There was no injuries involved.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.55pm on Friday, September 15, 2023, police received a report of a man with what was thought to be a firearm entering a property in Newhaven Place, Edinburgh.

“Armed officers attended, and after carrying out enquiries, it was confirmed there was no firearm.”
