Appeal to find owner of dog that may have suffered stroke

An appeal has been launched after an elderly dog – which appears to have suffered a stroke – was found straying in Edinburgh.

The Labrador cross was handed into the care of the police by a concerned member of the public after being found wandering around the Wester Hailes area on Sunday.

The male dog is now receiving treatment at a Scottish SPCA centre.

Scottish SPCA inspector Fiona Thorburn said: “He is underweight and looks like he may have previously had a stroke as his face is asymmetrical.

“Although he has a microchip, the chip is not registered.

“One of our animal rescue and rehoming centres is providing him with the care he needs.

“We are keen to speak to his owner as soon as possible, or anyone else who can tell us more about the dog.”

If you recognise the dog or have any information, call the animal welfare charity’s confidential helpline on 03000 999 999.
