Police in West Lothian have issued an appeal for information following the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a taxi van.

The incident occurred outside The Happy Valley Hotel in Blackburn’s Bathgate Road, near to Ladeside Road, at around 12.05am on Monday.

The 65-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by the black Mercedes Vito.

He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he was pronounced dead.

Sergeant Jennifer Forbes said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died and we are continuing our enquiries to find out the full circumstances of what happened.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area and seen what happened to get in touch. Likewise, if you were driving and have dashcam footage that could help with our investigation.”
